Coil Position Ultrasound

Coils can and sometimes do lose position or can be expelled. It is important that the position is rechecked 6 weeks after the fitting due to the risk of expulsion.

1 in 40 new coil insertions can possibly be expelled.

Coil position is checked in case of a change in menstrual pattern. We need to ensure the change did not happen due to malposition of the coil.

Sometimes women feel discomfort during the intercourse or their partner can complain. Misplacement of the coil can be easily checked with ultrasound.

No need for long waiting times to get checked in the hospital. Contact us today to book an appointment.

Irregular & Heavy Menstrual Bleeding

It is normal for women to have changes in their menstrual cycle throughout their life. Unfortunately, we can never be entirely sure if the change is normal or if there is an underlying cause for it.

At our private suite we investigate these complaints with  a full assessment by Dr Deborah Mannion.  It is advisable to have have ultrasound as an addition to the consultation which can also be performed on the same time. A referral is not needed to attend our clinic. Your investigations, results and treatment are provided on the same day. Contact us to book your appointment.

Ovarian Cyst & P.C.O.S

Ovarian Cyst Ultrasound Cork.png

Every ovary produces cysts called follicles during menstrual cycle.  Those follicles burst during ovulation and that would be a normal life of a follicle. Some follicles continue to grow and they create cysts. This can be a single simple cyst, or some ovaries have a formation of multicystic or polycystic ovaries. Not every cyst is the same. And not every cyst requires intervention. It’s in the hands of the experienced clinician to determine if further management is needed. First step is to undergo an ultrasound examination with blood test. This is all provided at our private suite in Citygate, Cork by Dr Deborah Mannion.
